Airbagreset.com was formed in 2006 after the founder discovered that salvage repairers where having to send their airbag modules to Germany for repair. There was a gap in the market for a UK provider of this service and we were one of the first business's to fill this gap. Others offered the service but did nothing more than ship the modules to Germany. Airbagreset.com truly was one of only two business's that carried out airbag module repairs in house in the UK at that time. 

Since 2006 we have remained small but efficient and have gained much respect in the field of airbag module resetting for modules that have deployed airbags as a result of a collision. About Airbag Modules

The airbag module also know as airbag ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is responsible for maintaining the status of the airbag system & for deploying airbag components in the event of an accident.

The airbag module receives information from various sensors & control units on the vehicle such as crash sensors, occupancy sensors, speed sensors, lighting, locking & engine management controls. Information is constantly fed to the airbag control unit and when if it detects rapid deceleration it will calculate the severity & locality of the collision so it knows exactly which airbag components to deploy in order to protect occupants.

Once a vehicle has been involved in a collision and the airbag module has detected impact, the airbag module will write 'crash data' to it's internal memory. The crash data is a record of the collision and can provide information such as which components have been deployed, how many occupants were in the car and also the vehicle speed & deceleration rate during the impact.

This 'crash data' in turn freezes the airbag module which renders it useless. You will find most diagnostic equipment will only have the capability to read the stored crash fault codes and will not clear or unlock the module. There is very little equipment on the market capable of performing the crash data erase task meaning that you would have to purchase a new airbag module costing hundreds of pounds.
