Learn How To Fix VW Airbag Fault Code 65535 - Internal Module Error

This tutorial will tell you how to fix the Airbag Fault code 65535 'internal module memory error' which affects many Volkswagen and VAG group vehicles including Audi, Seat, Skoda & Volkswagen models.

If the airbag light is on in your VAG group vehicle and you've scanned the airbag control module which has revealed the airbag fault code 65535 which will be accompanied by a fault code definition like 'internal module memory error' or 'ecu defective' then this obviously signifies that the airbag control module is defective.

Upon reading this code from a diagnostic computer, many people will automatically assume that the module is beyond repair and requires replacement. However, this fault code issue can fixed, the code can be erased and the fault rectified very simply by yourself without the need for sending the module off for repair.

We'll go through the repair process for fault code 65535 very shortly but first lets look at the causes of the fault code.

The code 65535 will often appear in VAG group vehicles for no apparent reason, although there is always a reason.

There are a batch of airbag modules which have been reported as having a software bug which can cause the code 65535.

We have had reports of this code occurring after the vehicle has been scanned by some diagnostic equipment which seems to related to the VW airbag modules which superseded by VW suggesting there is a design or manufacture issue with some modules.

We have also had customers informing us that the code 65535 occurred after very cold weather and frost, certainly temperatures below freezing.

Many of these vehicles suffered drained or flat batteries as a result of cold weather temperatures and have subsequently been jump started. It is more likely to be the low battery voltage issue causing the 65535 fault code but also a voltage spike can occur when jump staring or if boost starting using a high power battery charger / boost pack which could also be to blame.

It can be difficult to pin point the exact cause of the fault code 65535 but there is a connection between cold weather causing low battery voltages and this code appearing.

In other cases it could just be a system glitch that has caused voltage spike which can be enough to upset these airbag modules.

Fixing VW Airbag Fault Code 65535

The Volkswagen airbag fault code 65535 for internal error can be fixed but not in all cases.

If you choose to send your module to a specialist for repair then they will generally perform a reprogramming procedure which will basically erase the fault. It is done on the bench with programming equipment to directly access the airbag module memory. By doing this, the airbag code 65535 which is hard written to the memory, can be erased. Normal diagnostic equipment connected to the car via the OBD socket cannot erase this fault code because it is hard written to the memory.

There is an alternative to sending your module off for repair. One that will achieve the same results because it is the same method that the experts use and one that will not only save you extra work but save you money.

That method is to purchase a specialist tool at an affordable price of just £26.95 all inclusive with free postage, which is about the same as you'd pay a professional to carry out the repair, but you get to retain the tool for future use.

We'll show you how to get hold off the special trade secret tool in a moment but there is a little more to know about this fault.

Even if you send your module off for repair, you do not receive a real guarantee that the repair will work or last. Unfortunately that is the nature of this fault. The modules are not repaired as in having internal circuit board repairs but are re-flashed which will clear the bad sectors of the memory. So you can see there is every chance that the fault code may re-occur and in many circumstances it will do at some point in the cars life.

This is why it makes more sense to buy the trade secret tool for your self so you can use time and time again with one minimal cost. This avoids having to pay for repeat diagnosis of the airbag system and repeat repair (or reprogramming) of the airbag module.

The tool we are talking about is really simple to use, it gives excellent results and is used by people in the know to fix the 65535 airbag fault code. Best of all you can connect it to the airbag module via the OBD socket of the car which does away with the need for removing the airbag module.

Be aware that this method will not fix every airbag module but the tool will perform the same 'fix' as somebody reprogramming the module on the bench so it's certainly worth buying the tool and trying because all other solutions are far more expensive.

We have used this tool on hundreds of Volkswagen and VAG airbag modules with very high success rates so trust you stand a good chance of resolving the issue, just as good as sending the module off for repair.

It will work on all VW airbag modules with the part number 1C0 909 605 *   ( * = any letter code).

It also works on VAG modules that start with the following part numbers:

1C0  /  1J0  / 3B0  /  4B0  /  4D0  /  6Q0 (not vw caddy ending AH)  /  8A0  /  8D0  /  8L0

We hope you have found this tutorial useful and have as much success with this amazing tool as we have !
